J. Howard Parsons

Howard Parsons was an American physicist.

Parsons was born in Chicago in 1920. He receieved a B.S. from the University of Chicago, and shortly afterwards was hired to work on the Manhattan Project as a research assistant at the Chicago Met Lab. He was present when Chicago Pile-1 went critical on December 2, 1942. During the war, Parsons also worked at the Clinton Laboratories in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and would stay on to work at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory after the war. Parsons also went on to work at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Parsons died September 21, 2012.
